Instron Electromechanical Tensile Testing Machine
The tensile testing machine allows for a wide range of tests on mechanical properties.
Simple adjustments to the setup enable the measurement
of tensile, bending, and compressive properties.
Instron electromechanical load frames are designed
to apply a load to a test specimen via the moving crosshead.
The drive system moves the crosshead upward to apply a tensile load on the specimen,
or downward to apply a compressive load on the specimen. A load cell,
which is mounted in series with the specimen, measures the applied load.
The load cell converts the load into an electrical signal that the control system measures and displays.
Load cells are interchangeable with others of different capacities and offer a range
of load measurement options limited only by the maximum capacity of the load frame.
Strain gauges (extensometers) can also be used in these systems
to measure strain.
The control of the testing system is done via a proprietary software program from Instron,
specifically developed for material testing.
Setting the test parameters, operating the system, as well as collecting
and analyzing test data is done through the software program.
Detailed information on operating the system via the software can be found
in the software's online help.
There is a control panel on the load frame.
The control panel, in combination with the software program, provides a flexible user interface,
allowing you to execute functions either from the computer or from the control panel.
