The Cary 5000 combines unparalleled Cary performance with Varian's innovative PbSmart ™ technology
and extends the wavelength range in the NIR to 3300 nm.
The Cary 5000 can be used to achieve significant performance breakthroughs across a wide range of applications - from quantifying
the out-of-band blocking properties of bandpass filters to measuring the high transmission rates of next-generation fiber optic materials.

The Cary 5000 is also an ideal reference instrument for verifying the performance of other UV/VIS spectrometers or NIR spectrophotometers.

The instrument comes with solid sample holders and can be equipped with a variety of accessories.
It is controlled by the Cary WinUV software.

Cary 5000 design features include:

Wavelength range - 175-3300 nm

Optical isolation system - which includes a floating aluminum cast part that isolates the optics from external disturbances.
This ensures that your laboratory environment does not affect the performance of your instrument.

PbSmart ™ technology - optimizes the performance of the PbS NIR detector in real-time, providing
unprecedented noise and linearity performance in detector technology.

Schwarzchild coupling optics - ensures maximum light throughput.
This leads to more accurate measurements at low transmission levels.

Silicon oxide coating - protects the optics from environmental influences and allows for cleaning of the reflective surfaces without damaging them.

Variable and fixed slits - allow optimal control over data resolution.
The spectral bandwidth can be set to 0.01 nm.
The slits can be fixed in both the NIR and UV-Vis ranges.

Double Littrow mirror monochromator out of plane - minimizes photometric noise and stray light and provides excellent resolution.

Advanced electronic design - The instruments can typically measure more than 8 Abs at reference beam attenuations.

Nitrogen purging - The monochromator and sample chamber have separate nitrogen purging functions.
This allows the sample compartment to be purged at a higher rate than the instrument.

Plug-and-Go ™ lamp management - Lamps can now be easily replaced and pre-aligned without adjustments required.
The lamp management electronics allow for a wider range of lamp designs to be integrated.

LockDown ™ mechanism - You can quickly, easily, and reproducibly install accessories into the sample compartment.
