The Siemens System 3 operating system was developed for programmable logic controllers with NC functionality,
especially for the SIMATIC S5 with diagnostic and display system. The control panel has two central connections,
 the 50-pin Sub-D from the control unit with video and the 50-pin flat ribbon connector for an external machine control panel.
