Brief description of the wave measurement system
The production of parts with different specifications that must meet special requirements in use requires a differentiated quality determination. The STEINHEIL wave measurement system (AMV) has optimized this process for many applications through the use of an opto-electronic measurement method. The AMV software enables the evaluation and assignment of various contour sizes such as diameter, length, cone angle and chamfers, radius, shape and position, roundness deviations, rotational angle.
The protocol output is done via screen or printer. The AMV software has a graphics package that allows the output of data in 3D graphics. The AMV software concept enables manageable and reliable control of the STEINHEIL measuring machines. The STEINHEIL measurement system is modular and includes: Opto-interface for capturing measurement sensor data and the length measurement system including data preparation, motor control unit for hardware control, VME-BUS measuring computer, UNIX or DOS operating system for graphic operation, VGA monitor.
Function description of the measuring unit:
The wave measuring unit scans the workpiece optically. An opto-electronic measurement method is used, which consists of: lighting-camera. In addition to the optical components, the measuring unit consists of mechanical assemblies: measuring carriage for the movement of the camera and lighting, tailstock and spindle for holding the workpiece, machine body for precise guidance of the measuring carriage and tailstock. The measuring unit is mounted on a stable tubular frame. During measurement, the workpiece is illuminated by the light source, and the light portions not reflected by the workpiece are captured by the camera, thus capturing the shadow of the workpiece. The measuring carriage with lighting and camera moves along the workpiece's longitudinal axis. By using a driven tailstock, measurements can also be performed during the rotational movement of the workpiece.
