Features

The IMD F (Intelligent Motor Drive, Fast Version) is a fully digital AC servo controller
with CAN bus interface, which can be flexibly adapted to a wide range of different applications
due to extensive parameterization options.
The device has the following features:
Modular design of controller part, power part, encoder evaluation
and interfaces
Complete galvanic isolation between controller part and power output stage,
inputs and outputs, analog and control electronics, and CAN bus interface
4-quadrant operation with completely continuous transition between the
quadrants
Drift-free control in conjunction with a digital setpoint specification
Sinusoidal current injection, resulting in continuous torque compared to block-commutated
controllers
Operation as speed controller, torque controller, or position controller
Jerk-free or time-optimized positioning relative or absolute to a
reference point.
Speed and angle synchronization with electronic gearing via
incremental encoder input or CAN bus
Cycle time in the current control loop 100 ms, in the speed control loop 200 ms, and in the
position control loop 400 ms, bandwidth in the current control loop approx. 2 kHz, in the
speed control loop approx. 500 Hz
Easy coupling to a higher-level control system, e.g., to a PLC
CAN fieldbus interface for controlling the IMD F in "real-time"
The digital control allows for fault-tolerant operation, i.e.
disturbances are detected in time and regulated if possible.
The integrated brake chopper allows for the dissipation of braking energy via
external braking resistors
