Description: Glow Discharge Analyzer

The LECO GDS 750 has DC and RF excitation. However, it is delivered without calibration.

Version 1: The GDOS analysis is used for material analysis, allowing for qualitative/quantitative depth profile analysis

as well as an accurate base material analysis (mass/bulk).

Thanks to a DC (direct current) and a high-frequency glow discharge source, conductive

and non-conductive materials can be examined.

Version 2: Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectrometry (GDOS) is an analytical method

for investigating the surface, depth profile, and base material composition (mass/bulk)

of conductive materials (direct current glow discharge plasma: DC).

With the help of a high-frequency glow discharge source (RF), non-conductive materials can also

be analyzed.

In a glow discharge, material is removed layer by layer from the sample surface.

The removed atoms are energetically excited in the plasma.

When the atoms return to their ground state, a characteristic light spectrum is emitted.

By measuring this light emission, all programmed elements can be simultaneously analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively

within a few minutes.
