Avex RMS Shock Test Machine

Description:

This is a microprocessor-controlled, pneumatically operated impact machine for precise,
repeatable impact tests of samples up to 22.7 kg in the laboratory and production.
With appropriate impulse generators, it produces half-sine, sawtooth, and
square wave impulse shapes to meet demanding military and
industrial specifications or individual test requirements.
The generated waveforms comply with typical military specifications
such as MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-750.
The SM-105-MP is fully portable and requires no special floor preparation or bolting.
The only site requirements are the availability of compressed air (115 V/60 Hz - US standard)
or 230 V/50 Hz (European standard) and a reasonably level floor.

Operation:

The machine operates with compressed air at a pressure of 7 - 9 Bar.
The following describes a typical drop cycle:
Compressed air is directed into the bottom of the piston, raising the slide
to a selected height determined by the
microprocessor programming.
Once the height is reached, the holding brake is engaged.
The lift air is released, and compressed air is directed into the top of the piston,
until a desired "charging pressure" is reached, measured by a transducer.
Once the desired charging pressure reaches the correct value,
the microprocessor activates the valve that releases the pressure on the holding brake.
The slide is then driven down by the charging pressure
and impacts an impulse generator mounted on the anvil.
Upon impact, the microprocessor instructs the brake to engage,
holding the slide in a rebound position
and preventing a second impact.
At the same time, the microprocessor triggers the sweep of an oscilloscope
or another instrument to record the shock impulse.
